Hey misplaced drinkers,
Word is that the bar is closed. I don't have any information on how long it will remain as such.
Truthfully, who would expect the former Bossman, current scumbag, to have done this any other way. He had no respect for his bartenders, or for his patrons. Whoever opens the place back up will certainly be a more civil owner. And probably a helluva lot easier on the eyes. That Bossman was one ugly motherfucker.
My heart goes out to Shelley and all of the other bartenders who tried to make our stay at the Tavern pleasant, in spite of ownership operating against them at every turn. They had to compete with inadequate stock of beer, fucked up toilets, insufficient refrigeration, and, as I remember, sweltering working conditions for the bulk of last summer.
The former Bossman will probably be able to sit there and read this and laugh at all of them, and all of us, the patrons. But in his head and bitter black heart he knows just what a disgratziada he is. I doubt he has even one true friend.
I say good riddance to him. 1762 will be back, and probably infinitely better run and managed in his absence. I look forward to seeing your familiar faces when 1762 reopens.

I can only hope that the next owner brings in a new spirit, a new attitude, and a sense of responsibility to the neighborhood and the community.
I hope all the bartenders come back too.
FYI: The new owner is using his own people with the exeption of Jamie, the worst bartender in the history of liquor. He will be open at night and closed during the day for "renovations". He will not be using any of the former staff excluding the snobby, nasty to the regulars, inexperienced mess that someone mistakingly trusted and trained to work with us. She knew about the sale of the tavern because her close friend purchased it. If you want a beer consisting of foam, a dirty glass or a poorly made cocktail then by all means go to the old Corner Tavern. A word of warning: You'll also be getting her life story (boring). You won't be getting any real attention or interest in your problems. The latter is what a real bartender is truly there for. (Plus a well poured beer or well made cocktail). You'll really miss that.
Thanks for the sentiment dc but it's not going to happen. We're movin' on up and creating a new home for our people very soon. I hope you'll be visiting us, Without the Big Asshole we'll all have a sense of unity, community and loyalty. Don't get too comfortable there, it will never be the same place and take it from me: Trust noone
