Moving the Blog

It seems as if Google has hit a nerve with the email they sent to me this week regarding the adult flavor of one of the posts here. I am a little overwhelmed by the response from contributor and reader alike.

"Anonymous" [I know who who are!] has suggested moving the blog to another hosting service. I invite her to go through the sign up process on any of her suggested sites and to set up a new home for the blog. She has even suggested that I fight Google, which I find laughable. Imagine getting them to change their "No Adult Content" policy so we can write about the bar?

Yes, this is America. Yes, freedom of speech, blah blah blah. And I am not a fan of censorship, but I don't have the time to do what it will take to recreate the blog elsewhere. I invite comments from all on the subject.

Very funny. Would you know who "anonymous" was if they didn't tell you? I don't think so.
Also funny is that attempting to contest Google policies regarding censorship for using a few words that are objectionable to some, but yet printed in the dictionary, is not worth your time or effort. I would have thought that fighting for your right to free speech, you being a citizen of this country and a writer, would be worth it to all Americans. If nobody ever fought for our rights, where would we be now as a country?
I do believe that "Freedom of Speech" is the 1st Amendment of the US constitution. I also understand that it must have it's limitations but it is annoying to me that an author can't chose the words he wants to use to make his point.

Yes, you got me...I am a commie fascist who does not believe in freedom of speech, or anything else American.[hope you got the sarcasm]

Google is a corporation, not a governmental entity, which means they will operate as they see fit, as long as they are within legal guidelines. If Disney.com had blogging capabilities, and they did not allow "adult language", would you feel the same way?

Google has established themselves as a legitimate business, and arguably as the most utilized Internet resource available. To "mar" this reputation by publishing objectionable content, would be foolish of them.

I am not pleased with the ban, but putting myself in their shoes I understand. That doesn't mean that we can't poke fun at their "wholesomeness" in future posts.

If you wish to battle Google on my behalf, by all means, go for it! Or better yet, maybe I'll send you the bill for the high-priced legal team I am going to hire to bring suit against Google. Hehe. Imagine the Supreme Court hearing a case on the blog for the Tavern. That's funny shite!!!

Well, considering how mild the post was in respect to what other blogs put out and get away with I don't think any post on this blog is really evil or anti-social.

On the contrary, this blog promotes social interaction on an adult level in the bar culture. We promote good behavior and safe adult fun without much vulgarity.

But lets not jump ship just yet. Lets see if a human being talks to me about my posts or if we get another electronic message from the 'bot police'.

(Sarcasm Rules!! I am the queen of sarcasm [my dad{RIP} told me so it must be true}.

Dear Commie Fascist: (Your words, not mine, although I wanted to say it to you, I didn't want you to get into more trouble with "Google". But I truly didn't say it because I have more respect for you than that.
No duh to the corporate reference but "Google" is not "Disney". "Google" is not the happiest place on earth, aimed towards children and they are not right. I could care less about their policies about adult content regarding the blog about a bar which children can't go to anyway. They can bite me. I will never use them for anything ever again. They are the "Commies" not you. They are not the government of this country either. F them, they are all about money.
As for battling the corporation, well, I wish you wouldn't threaten me with a good time because I am a bartender and can't earn the money I would need to fight a large corporation like them. (my fault, no one elses) Don't get me wrong, I love a good fight, but I guess if you hired a "legal team" tp bring suit against "Google" for Americans first amendment rights, then I must have gotten my point across and that, my dear, is my point. If I could help you to pay the lawyers, believe me, I would, but it's hard enough just to feed my family, put gas in my vehicle to get to work and just basically survive, so I am at the mercy of someone better off to fight a corporation. If you wanted to protest or boycott them, then I'm in.
AMERICANS MUST FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS OR BIG CORPORATIONS WILL (as they are now) BE IN CONTROL OF OUR COUNTRY.
"Money is the root of all evil", makes more and more sense to me every day. I'm poor, proud of my country and sick of being crapped on by companies with endless cash flow. ENOUGH ALREADY!!

So they established themselves as a "legitimate business", so what. Did they write a dictionary? I don't think so. Words are words. Kids are not reading our blog. Nevermind the graphics "Google" provides, I'd rather just read what you and RJ have to say anyway. Pictures are not what makes me look at the blog. Writing is. I've often mentioned to RJ that he should just write a book about his experiences and maybe you should too. I would rather buy
a book than give in to ridiculous rules about artistic expression.
